Deaf Community - Support Worker (part-time)
Wages £10.30 ph. 7 - 13 hours a week to suit (Equivalent £19,817 full time)
This position is funded until 30th April 2023 by the National Lottery Community Fund. The successful candidate(s) will work as part of a team. Duties will include home visits across the County, hearing aid repairs, organising and delivering club activities, as well as recruiting and supervising volunteers. The role will also work with local organisations to improve d/Deaf access to local services. Deaf awareness and a commitment to upholding the rights of d/Deaf people are essential. Every year we need to raise approximately £3,000 from donations to supplement our grant funding. If you are able to help us, in any way, we would love to hear from you. As a charity we rely on the donations and grants we receive to ensure our events and activities are not too expensive for our members. Many of our members are not in employment or are on low wages. We have recently been successful in securing £2,000 towards our club services from the Foyle Foundation. We would like to thank them for their support.
We have also been awarded grant funding for 5 years from May 2018 - April 2023 from the National Lottery Community Fund to setup new hard of hearing clubs undertake home visits, support local businesses to enable them to be more accessible to deaf and hard of hearing people, and ro organise our trips. We now have a team of Deaf Community - Support Workers who cover the county to provide these services. We are very grateful for this financial support.
