Shirley David, volunteer Communication Support Worker, explains about the club
Sign and Share Club was set up in April 2013 in response to requests from deaf people who wanted a daytime club to enable them to socialise and get involved in activities together. In February 2018 we became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation Registered Charity Number 1177316.

The objects of the club are:
To relieve the needs of deaf people through the provision of information, advocacy, training and support, social activities to reduce isolation and loneliness, and in such other ways as the trustees may determine from time to time.
Not everyone uses British Sign Language (BSL). We communicate with everyone in their prefered language but we encourage anyone wishing to learn or use BSL.
Who can be a member?
Full membership (with voting rights) is open to any adult who is deaf. This includes people who are profoundly deaf, deafened, deafblind, hard of hearing or parents of a deaf child.
Associate membership is open to anyone who is not deaf, or to businesses that are interested in our club, but does not include voting rights.
Membership costs £10 for the year. Support workers and carers (including parents/siblings of deaf children) have free membership.
Where and when do we meet?
Meetings are usually held on the first Friday of each month but please check the events page for details. The venue changes depending on the activity so please look at the events page for details of meetings.
